A humanitarian-first design philosophy treats impact as a requirement, not a marketing story added at the end. It asks whether a tool reaches the people who need it most, whether it works in the conditions they actually live in, and whether it respects their dignity and autonomy.

For communication technology, this means designing for accessibility from the beginning, supporting the widest possible range of languages, and ensuring the technology works even where connectivity and resources are limited.
